Simclar fightback

No doubt you'll have heard about the Simclar workers, who occupied their factory over the weekend in opposition to closure of the plant.

On Saturday night, along with scores of other SSP members, I showed my support and solidarity with the workforce.

We'll be showing this support again on Thursday when they lobby the Scottish Parliament at 12 noon!

Its time for Simclar workers and thier union to face reality.

Unions and Globalization are going to be clashing priorities more and more. Simclar had no choice in this matter, due to the politics in place in that vicinity. If their competitors are making the products for 25% less cost in South America, then Simclar has to match or beat that and do the same.

Unions unfortunately are almost always the last ones to admit the reality of such situations and facts. Unions hurt the US over the past decade in very much the same way.

What the workers need to do is find ways to be more productive and make more product in less time. Come up with ideas and quit complaining and blaming others for your own inadequacies as well as the antiquities in policy.

Simclar is making wise business decisions for its continued survival which any corporation is bound to do, and which should have been seen as coming with clear evidence for years now.

It is the new way of the world in growth, and workers are in competition with other workers abilities in other countries now. Unions arent doing much but collecting money and demanding more instead of working to compete better in this case.

Accept it, and move on.
The rest of the entire world sure is. The sooner these workers deal with it, the sooner they will own success.

To world wisdom minded

to come on here and post a lot of nonsense and not know the facts, lets face he only shut these factorys in ayrshire to keep his factorys in dunfermline open, the order books in kilwinning were full and to transfer ownership of the factory to simclar inc 1 month before they went in to adminstration is totaly unaceptable, lets bring sam the bam russell to justice.

If I could have been with you Colin I would have been going round to speak with EVERY single Simclar worker and asking them how did you vote at the last election. If the answer was New Labour or Tory or Lib Dem I would have ask them WHY did you vote for the people that have done this to you and your family. All three are responsible for safeguarding your RIGHTS and they have failed you and your`s.That Colin is the message every socialist party and member must get across to the people. With only about 3% to 7% off the vote the socialists are failing to get across the message WHY VOTE FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE HARMING YOU.

I have to say this...

What does it say about the trade union movement that they still pay their dues to New Labour. More to the point what does it say about their so called LEADERS? forget russell I say they are the true capitalists. How many over the years have ended up in the House of Lords for services rendered, yes but to who it ain`t been their members.I know all about this Colin and how.
