Coming Soon - Is there a Scottish road to socialism?

Socialists in Scotland have previously been presented with
parliamentary and British roads to socialism in the past.
Since the devolution referendum of 1997 and the arrival of
the Scottish Parliament in 1999 with its rainbow politics, it
is apt to now ask Is there a Scottish road to socialism?
Notwithstanding recent developments, like the split in the
Scottish Socialist Party and the rise in opinion poll support for
independence, there are longstanding debates about whether
a Scottish road to socialism is possible or desirable. The
various contributors were asked to consider the issues of what
they mean by socialism; how and where can their socialism
be achieved; and what role can Scottish developments play in
the international movement for social justice and socialism.
The contributors were drawn from across the national-unionist
divide and include John McAllion, Robin McAlpine, Vince Mills,
David Purdy, Joe Middleton, Pam Currie, Campbell Martin,
Bill Wilson, Stuart Fairweather, John Foster, Richard Leonard,
Peter McColl, Eric Canning and Neil Davidson.

Is there a Scottish Road to Socialism? is edited by
Colin Fox and Gregor Gall.

"Is there a Scottish road to socialism?"

You bet there is.For the first time in my lifetime we have a real chance of a socialist government in an independent Scotland. The world has gone downhill in the last 27yrs (it was always going too anyway what Thatcher done was to strap a very large turbo onto the engine to speed it all up).If it is not crystal clear that capitalism has failed by now it never will be to those who deny it hasn`t.Scotland has the chance to show the rest of Europe and the world how we as human beings can and should live, let`s not mess it up brothers and sisters. The problem will be will we be allowed to? capitalism won`t go down without it resorting to some very NASTY BEHAVIOR (no change there then).

I should have said this in my last post on this subject...

There are still very demoralising times to come for socialism. Capitalism is not dead YET but it`s tombstone has been made make no mistake of that,if you doubt me then your eyes must be shut to what is happening in the world. For all there dark deeds in South America socialism has come back at them with a vengeance has it not?.Capitalism cannot help but go along the path of destruction as it always has it is the nature of the beast it is. There is an old saying "it is always at it`s darkest before the dawn".
