Free public transport would be the biggest pro- environment and anti pollution measure ever enacted by any national government.”“It would also boost real incomes and be a major anti poverty and pro social inclusion measure. It would also benefit Scotland's tourism industry.

Although I am 100% behind this plan, I find the following part of Colin's statement rather strange:
"“It would also benefit Scottish business particularly the tourism industry.”"
I don't particularly know whether this will benefit local business or not. However, whether it does or not is of no concern to us as socialists.
While this question could be posed to us, we should not include it in our main argument. We are supposed to be a party of and for the working class!
"Scottish business"? That sounds like something the Greens or SNP would say.

Well thought out, sensible, logical, and sane but fatally flawed...
To New Labour/tories/lib dems well thought out, sensible, logical, and sane are all alien concepts.

Good stuff once again from the SSP - practical, credible and radical solutions that connect with the people. Give the other parties 10 years and they might catch up with you on this one too...
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, in its place is something that you left behind let it be something good.

This will fail we all know that.WHY it does not suit the interests of big business.Has it not always been so...
Back in the 1920s the railway system of the UK was all ready to take on the mantel of distribution of goods to all parts of the UK and it would have worked very well. But the road haulage industry that was just beginning to come into being (it was a very small concern then)didn`t think this was a good idea, the motor manufacturers didn`t think it was a good idea.So to cut a long story short and a lot of very thick brown paper envelopes later MPs didn`t think it was a good idea.We have suffered to this day and how.Ever time you see a lorry on the motorway think of this post.
